It is also known as germicidal UV or UV-C. It functions by penetrating the body of pathogens to modify their DNA in a way that hinders multiplication. It can also deactivate them. These rays have shown the ability to get rid of 99.9% of microorganisms.
The advantage of UV lamp over the use of chemicals for disinfection is that microorganisms cannot develop tolerance to UV light. At the pretreatment phase, water runs through the carbon and sediment filters. The carbon filters remove the organic impurities while the sediment filters remove the silt present in water.
This purify system involves the use of hydrostatic pressure to force water against a semi-permeable membrane which has the ability to get rid of different microorganisms and bad odor present in the water.
There is no much difference between ultra-filtration and Nano Filtration, reverse osmosis and microfiltration. However, the size of the molecules they retain differ. Ultrafiltration removes microorganisms, colloids and other molecules which are bigger than the size of the pores in a semi-permeable membrane.
